Trinity County IVSS Coverage
Texas replaced county VINE and VINELink with Texas IVSS-Counties on September 1, 2025. It provides one-person county custody searches and notices for events such as booking, release, court changes, death, escape, or transfer to TDCJ. Texas says old registrations migrated, but Trinity’s county pages still display legacy VINE branding. Confirm current participation because not every county supplies data.
State-prison events use the separate TDCJ IVSS portal. Federal BOP and ICE custody are outside both systems. A person can leave Trinity County Jail through transfer to an off-site jail, TDCJ, or federal custody, so read the event rather than treating any departure as community release.
Search One Trinity County Person
Use full or partial name, DOC ID, SID, Jail ID, or Permanent Booking number. The portal suggests the first three letters of first and last name for a partial search. Identifiers matter when several people share a name.

- Open the record and read the exact status or event.
- Note the facility and whether the event says release or transfer.
- Confirm the event with the physical custodian’s book-out record and court order.

Trinity IVSS Release Fields
IVSS is a notification and status system, not the official release record. Its value lies in identifying an event quickly and supplying enough detail to route the next inquiry.

Register for Trinity Release Alerts
After selecting the correct record, choose phone, text, or email notices. An account permits changes to contact details, preferred hours, blackout dates, pauses, and notice history. Registration is also available without an account. Operator help is available at 866-268-8959 around the clock in English and Spanish.
- Select the correct person and event types.
- Enter the chosen contact method.
- Set preferences and complete the current confirmation prompts.
- Save identifying details for later verification.
- When notified, request the actual release or transfer record.
Do not use the old four-digit PIN instructions as current guidance. That PIN belonged to legacy VINE telephone alerts before the 2025 transition.
Confirm Trinity IVSS Events
IVSS warns that its data is not an official record and that people no longer in custody may not remain searchable. A registration can stay active after a person disappears and may notify again if that person returns to custody. Ask TCSO Open Records for the booking-out entry, actual date and time, release type, legal authority, and destination. If another jail executed the release, request that custodian’s record too.

For a TDCJ case, move to state IVSS and TDCJ release-history channels. For BOP or ICE custody, use those agencies’ locators instead.
Trinity Legacy VINE Trap
Trinity’s own VINE page can send a reader toward an old brand and old workflow. Texas changed the county service in 2025, and current IVSS materials govern registration, contact preferences, and notices. Legacy registrations were expected to carry over, with a password change on first portal login.
A missing released person is also expected behavior under the new service. Keep the registration, preserve any event message, and seek the originating booking-out or court record. Note: Verify Trinity participation live before relying on any alert.
Trinity County Versus TDCJ IVSS
County IVSS and TDCJ IVSS are distinct. A Trinity booking may move to state custody when TDCJ accepts a sentenced person. Preserve the transfer entry because this is not community release. Off-site housing adds another layer. The physical jail may execute the later release, return the person to Trinity, or transfer the person onward.
For community release, retain the book-out date, time, type, and signed authority. For transfer, retain both sending and receiving records.

Federal Trinity Custody Notices
IVSS does not track all federal custody. BOP can show a past release date. ICE covers current detainees and releases within 60 days. USMS has no public name locator. A Trinity entry saying released to ICE or USMS means transfer from county custody.
Follow the receiving system. BOP exit does not rule out an ICE handoff. Use the federal docket and FOIA for USMS custody.
Match Trinity IVSS Identities
A partial name is only a lead. Compare SID, jail ID, permanent booking number, case, and facility. Two people can share a name, and one person can have several bookings.
A notice timestamp may mark delivery, not physical release. Preserve the message, then request the executed book-out field and signed authority.
Trinity IVSS Notification Preferences
Current IVSS permits phone, text, and email notices. An account can store preferred hours, blackout dates, pause settings, history, and updated contact information. Registration is also available without an account. Choose only the event types offered in the current portal. The old VINE telephone PIN procedure is historical and does not apply to new IVSS instructions.
Legacy users must update a password at first portal login. If access fails, call the current help number. Keep identity fields ready because operator registration still depends on selecting the right record.
Trinity Book-Out Record Fallback
When IVSS returns no result, contact the last confirmed custodian. Ask TCSO Open Records for booking-in and booking-out records, actual departure time, release or transfer type, destination, receiving agency, authority, charges, bond, disposition, and booking photograph. A narrow request for one booking reduces identity risk.
If Trinity transferred the person to an outside jail, request the sending entry and the receiving jail’s book-out. Pair community release with the signed bond, dismissal, sentence-completion, or probation order.
Trinity Current Roster Limits
The official roster is labeled Current Inmates. It can display name, booking number, status, location, arrest date, charges, bond, and an image. It refreshes every 60 seconds, but this is not a promise about entry or vendor transmission. A disruption notice was visible during research.
The roster has no release time, release type, destination, or archive. A missing name may reflect release, transfer, failure, or mismatch. IVSS gives alerts, while the book-out record gives the official event.
Trinity IVSS Record Retention
An online result can disappear before the government file. Schedule PS sets a minimum of release or transfer plus two years for booking-in/out and release or transfer records. Property receipts have the same floor. A pending request or case can extend it.
Give a date range, booking number, and exact fields when requesting records. This matters in Trinity because several physical custodians may handle one case.
Trinity Court Event Verification
IVSS can notify about a court setting or change, but the clerk’s signed document controls. Felony cases ordinarily route to the District Clerk. Misdemeanor county cases route to the County Clerk. Ask for the bond order, dismissal, judgment, sentence, commitment, release order, or revocation disposition that matches the event.
Texas has no single authoritative statewide trial-court database. re:SearchTX helps with discovery but an absent result proves nothing. Use the case number in the IVSS or jail record to request the correct Trinity file. Pair the order with the physical custodian’s record because judicial authorization and actual departure can occur at different times.
Trinity TDCJ Search Limit
TDCJ’s public inmate search includes only people currently incarcerated in a TDCJ facility. It may show projected release and parole eligibility while a person remains in prison. It does not leave a public released or discharged profile after exit. A no-result cannot confirm release.
For former TDCJ custody, email pia@tdcj.texas.gov with the full name and TDCJ number, or exact birth data and conviction county. Request incarceration history, actual release date and type, and supervision discharge. For documentary proof, use the PIA form. A favorable Board vote, scheduled location, or IVSS notice is useful context but is not the release certificate.
Trinity Registry Is Separate
The Texas DPS sex-offender registry can show a released registrant’s public data and photo. It covers only people with a reportable registration duty. Registry presence proves registration status, not a Trinity jail release date, and absence says nothing about most released people.
Do not confuse registry updates with IVSS custody events. Use the registry only when that legal status is relevant, then obtain the sheriff or TDCJ release record for the actual departure.
Note: Confirm each Trinity County notification against the current custodian because portal scope, participation, and record visibility can change after release.
